As a draft allocation in the Neighbourhood Plan the site has been assessed locally and is considered sustainable and suitable for development. The proposal therefore presents the opportunity to support the existing strong and cohesive community of Houghton on the Hill through additional housing, public open space and management of the landscape.
The concept masterplan (shown below), shows that the proposed development will provide public open space to be used by future residents and the wider community, will retain trees and hedgerows, plant additional foliage and retain a public bridleway. The extent of the residential development will remain entirely within the proposed amended settlement boundary to avoid excessive encroachment on the countryside.
